After Care Instructions

Congratulations on your new smile! And for being so smart about your cosmetic investments. You know that in comparing costs, results, and longevity, nothing beats the procedure(s) you’ve had done.

So now that you have the look you’ve been waiting for you’ll want to keep it beautiful for years to come. Start by reading through the tips and info below. We want to help you keep that great smile!

Adjustment Time

As with anything new, your brain needs a chance to figure out what’s going on. Cosmetic procedures that have re-positioned your teeth, changed their thickness or altered your bite may throw your brain for a loop. It’ll need some time to process the new information and decide that all this newness is here to stay. Until then your mouth may produce extra saliva and you might feel a little strange speaking. But you’ll be right back to normal again and feeling comfortable in a week or so.

Daily Hygiene

No worries here. You’ll still be able to be a diligent brusher and flosser. The long term success of your dental work depends on it. And we still need to see you in our office for regular hygiene appointments. We have the appropriate cleaning abrasives and techniques for your specific cosmetic work and we’ll make you shine!

The Not-So-Fine Print

These things can all crack, break, or discolor your pearly whites!

Ouch!

Feeling a little sensitive to hot and cold? Sore gums? No worries; it’s normal. Here’s our favorite home remedy to reduce pain and swelling. It really works!

  • 8 oz glass of warm water
  • ½ tsp of salt

Mix it up and use it to rinse your mouth 3 times each day. It’ll speed up the healing process and your mouth will thank you!

A little Tylenol or Motrin should also help to ease any discomfort during the adjustment period.
